Tigo Rwanda customers will now be able to access WhatsApp and Facebook thanks to a new affordable pack unveiled on Tuesday.
According to a statement from the telecom firm, SociaLIT will enable customers to post photographs, videos and enjoy all Facebook features at the "most affordable rate on the market”.
"Using SocaiLIT packs, WhatsApp users will also be able send videos and voice messages to their loved ones, as well as voice and video call their friends and family,” Claude Kongolo, the head of non-voice business at Tigo Rwanda, said at the launch.
Kongolo added that SociaLIT gives customers the ability to communicate with their loved ones without fear of running out of credit.
"One can share videos, voice notes on WhatsApp and enjoy Facebook 24/7; that is what SociaLIT is all about.”
Cost
It costs Rwf100 for one to enjoy the SociaLIT service for 24 hours, a package of one week is at Rwf500, and that of 30 days goes for Rwf1,000.
Local telecoms have of late launched various customer promos to attract subscribers as competition in the sector continues to mount.
Kongolo said SociaLIT is yet another example of how Tigo, not only understands its customer needs, but also how it responds to those needs. "With the introduction of SociaLIT, we are not only providing social media packs to customers, but enabling the lifestyle of ‘always-on social interaction’.
Currently, Tigo Rwanda has over 3.3 million customers and has invested over $310 million since opening shop in Rwanda in 2009 to date.
How to use the pack
To access SocialIT, dial *255*2# and follow the instructions on the menu. This way, one can stay connected with their family and friends on Facebook and WhatsApp, the firm added in the statement.
"Keeping in touch with trends and friends is second nature to people and sociaLIT has arrived to make that happen much more conveniently for Tigo customers,” Kongolo said.
He added that other social media platforms would be added on the list soon.
