Midfielder Kevin Muhire believes that Rayon Sports are still in the title race despite being nine points behind table leaders and arch rivals APR FC.
Muhire was on target as his lone goal in the 53rd minute helped the Blues edge Amagaju 1-0 in a matchday 18 of the Primus National League held at Huye Stadium on Wednesday, February 7. He was also named the club’s player of the month for January.
Rayon Sports are second on the table with 36 points and are trailing APR FC who opened a nine-point lead at the top of the table after Saturday'snarrow 1-0 win over Sunrise FC at Kigali Pele Stadium.
Despite the point gap, Muhire believes his side can keep hopes on the title run in, continue to fight, and let time decide.
"You have all these aspirations, dreams, goals and you want to compete until the very end in every competition we are in, so we want to win the league and we will keep pushing. They [APR FC] are ahead of us but we have a game against them and they may drop points so we must be ready for every match ahead of us,” Muhire said.
APR FC have not lost a single match during the past 20 match days but Muhire still believes anything can happen in football as he urges his teammates to take every game as a final and wait for what happens to their rivals in the remaining fixtures.

"It’s February and there is still so much to play for. Overall, this season, we have been up and down but we are on course to get things right. The season is not decided yet and there could be so many twists and turns, we all know that,” the Isonga product said.
The 25-year-old retained his armband at Rayon Sports following Abdul Rwatubyaye’s controversial exit ahead of his second spell at Macedonian side FC Shkupi whom he signed for earlier this week.
Muhire will now be looking to lead the Blues ahead of Sunday’s must-win clash against Police FC at Kigali Pele Stadium, kickoff 6PM Kigali Time.
