It will be the best of Nigeria, Uganda and Rwanda on one stage at the upcoming ‘Runtown Experience Kigali’ musical event.

Slated for September 23, at the Amahoro Stadium’s main parking lot, the show will be headlined by Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer Runtown, together with Ugandan dancehall songstress Sheebah Karungi.

According to organisers, the ‘Runtown Experience Kigali’ will be more than the usual music concert.

"We didn’t call it a show or a concert because it is an experience. We want to create something new to give people an experience they’ve never had before, right from execution, planning … everything will be different,” explained Collin Mugabo, an event planner with I Factory Africa, the company that is organising the show.

"When we work with artistes we partner with them. We don’t just work with them only businesswise. So they (Runtown and Sheebah) will be doing different activities here like charity, we’re also looking at doing some collaborations with Rwandan artistes. We want to give a platform for these young artistes to come up as well and share a stage with these big talents who have made it big in their careers,” he added.

It is the first event that the Kampala-based I Factory Africa is bringing to Kigali. The company is in charge of the East African segment of Runtown’s ongoing world tour. After Rwanda, the Mad Over You singer will head to Kenya in October, then Tanzania in November, before touring Uganda. "We thought of venturing into this market because we see entertainment is catching up and people are getting to know what events are and people are yearning for quality events, so we decided to be a part of the movement and bring something new to Rwanda. That’s why we have created different segments like VVIP, VIP, and ordinary,” Mugabo further revealed.

The show will be spiced up by a host of local talents including Bruce Melodie, Charly and Nina, Active, and dancehall new kid on the block Emprah Jahboy. All performances will be live.

Runtown and Sheebah will be in Kigali two days prior to the show, "to practice with the band, and get a vibe of what it’s going to be like,” according to Mugabo.

"We’ve learnt a lot from what has been happening at concerts in Kigali recently, which is why we want to avoid some of those mistakes and give the people what they deserve.”
