Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has said that the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) going on in Côte d’Ivoire has recorded close to 2 billion viewers so far this campaign.
Motsepe said that Africans should be proud of the commendable milestone that the tournament has achieved, and he is optimistic that future editions will be even better.

"We have had close to 2 billion people watching AFCON globally. We should be proud as Africans and the next one will be even better,” Motsepe said.
In recent years, the AFCON tournament with the highest number of viewership was the 2019 edition in Egypt where BeIN Sports alone recorded 800 million viewership.
The final of the AFCON 2023 will take place on Sunday, February 11 when hosts Côte d'Ivoire take on Nigeria at Olympic Stadium in Ebimpé.
