RWANDA's journey at the ongoing 29th African Basketball Championship (Afrobasket) ended on Sunday afternoon in Tunisia—the national team is expected back in the country Wednesday morning.

Moïse Mutokambali's men lost 77-81 to Cameroon in their last group game, a game they needed to win to reach the quarter-finals for the first time in five attempts.

Rwanda was eliminated from Group C with a 1:2 win ratio, having won 75-55 last Friday before losing 60-78 to hosts Tunisia on Saturday and 77-81 to Cameroon, the following day.

It was a disappointing exit, but yet, somewhat expected. Before this year's finals, Rwanda had been at this continental showpiece four times and never made it from the group stages.

Before leaving the country on August 26, head coach Mutokambali told Times Sport, "We are in good form and more prepared than we ever before, our main target is make it out of group stages."

The quarter-finals are scheduled to take place on Thursday in Tunis where Zone V champions Egypt faces Morocco in the first game at 2pm (CAT) before Afrobasket title holders Nigeria take on Cameroon, at 4:30pm.

Hosts Tunisia will be up against DR Congo at 6pm, while former champions Angola will battle Senegal in the final game of the last eight round, starting at 8:30pm. All game will be shown live in StarTimes channel, Sports Premium.
