“Outsiders are free to criticise; that is their right, but importantly, if they do not appropriately and accurately consider the context of Rwanda when making their criticisms, then it is difficult to take such commentary seriously or with respect.”
Editor, RE: "President Kagame’s re-election – a perspective from the Global North” (The New Times, September). "Outsiders are free to criticise; that is their right, but importantly, if they do not appropriately and accurately consider the context of Rwanda when making their criticisms, then it is difficult to take such commentary seriously or with respect.” Good ending and great analysis by Mr. Moore. Indeed the so called experts and academics, on Rwanda write all the criticism from either hearsay, or pick disgruntled elements as their sources of information, while others are held in the past, having worked for the old genocidal regime, and many have never set foot in Rwanda to have firsthand experience of the post-genocide Rwanda. Gerald Mbanda So timely Mr. Moore; thanks so much for educating the blind. As a Rwandan who was directly affected by our history, I attest that what Rwandans need most is peace and a stable nation-building than what is labeled as the "ideal democracy” by Western countries.
