RE: "Rwanda’s Paul Kagame: saviour or dictator?” (The New Times, August 31).

Mere contentious posturing this is. They have been tagging at his coat tail for a while now.

Way back in April 2014, Kevin Knodell and Peter Dorrie—both journalists from the Medium Corporation—put together a pretty much similar divisive report on President Kagame. This reminds me of one Diane Abbott, Labor MP for Hackney and Stoke Newington (London).

Back in January 2012, the Telegraph ran a piece on Ms. Abbott as having referred to the blue-eyed brigade of white people as divide and rule proponents. She was swiftly slapped down for bringing the house into disrepute. To this day seldomly is her remark replayed in the British media space, supposedly for fear of seeding doubt and conscious awareness of the underlying motives of British foreign policy, thereby lending credence to Abbott’s remark. Understandably the resultant public consternation would be off any scale.

Here’s an analogy for good measure. As preeminent heir to your father’s big estate, what would be the underlying motive for some of your siblings to raise unfounded yet very contentious grounds for your paternal kinship... much as there could always be a possibility of transgression from one’s mother’s side? To sow a seed of doubt in the heir’s provenance.

Hopefully Rwandans are all the wiser for this sort of subterfuge.
