Dear Editor,
Recently I visited my home village that is located on the Gisenyi highway.

I stayed for about five days and managed to interact with some children that stay around my grand mother’s residence.

I got so surprised when I found out from them that they no longer go to school. One of them said that her father could not afford books and pencils despite the fact that primary education is free.

It is in this regard that I appeal to the government to punish such parents who do not respect children’s rights.

It is sad that someone would rather watch their children work for little money than take them to school.

Every Rwandan child should be able to go to school.
