Born Again National Unity Fellowship of Rwanda (BANUFER), an umbrella body of born again churches, ended their fourteen-day National prayer and fasting session at the Gakinjiro-based Shining Light Church.

During the Prayers, the BANUFER national coordinator, Charles Murenzi said that they had decided to have fourteen days of praying and fasting for the nation as a way of playing their part in these difficult times when the chief of State Protocol, Rose Kabuye, is currently awaiting trial in France.

"We chose fasting and praying because it is written in the bible and it is helpful,” said Murenzi.

He added that the prayers had taken place across the country in the last fortnight and that different congregations had chosen a place to gather and pray.

Asked if the prayers had so far yielded anything, Murenzi said that some indicators show that God had answered their prayers.

He highlighted the retraction of testimony by Abdul Ruzibiza who was the key witness in the allegations against Kabuye and eight other former members of the Rwandese Patriotic Army (RPA).

On the regional scene, he pointed out the agreement of President Kabila of DR.Congo to hold talks with Laurent Nkunda’s National Congress for the Defence of the People (CNDP), was another prayer answered.
