MTN Rwanda has plans to continue expanding mobile data internet, particularly targeting the youth segment.
The mobile telecom giant announced the plans yesterday as it celebrated its Yolo anniversary. Yolo is a product that provides affordable voice and data packs.
The telecom giant has for the last one year been putting a particular focus on the segment of young people when it comes to extending its mobile internet solutions.
Yolo was designed to increase internet usage and connectivity among youthful Rwandans.
"A year ago, we introduced Yolo youth platform targeting the Rwandan youth and bringing them closer to the MTN brand,” said MTN youth segment coordinator Duncan Mugisha.
The goal of Yolo, he added, is to enable the youth to express themselves as well as help them meet their data needs.
"We want to show the youth that we are able to speak to them in a way they understand. We are there with them through their journey of discovery, in being who they want to be, in establishing their greatness and embracing their future,” said Teta Mpyisi, the MTN senior manager, brand and sponsorship.
Yolo anniversary event
According to MTN, the idea for the anniversary event is to appreciate youth loyalty toward Yolo and celebrate the MTN youth brand.
The telecom firm has organised an event on Saturday at Kivu Beach in Rubavu District that will attract several artistes, including Charly & Nina, Riderman, Urban Boys, and DJ Apeman from Uganda. DJs Ira and Kerb, from Kigali, will headline the event.
The event will also feature deejays from Rubavu and Goma, dance competitions, DJ battles, fashion competitions and sports.
