President Paul Kagame was on Friday, August 18, sworn in for another seven-year term, after he was overwhelmingly re-elected president during the August 4 poll, collecting 98.79 of votes cast.
Chief Justice Sam Rugege administered the Presidential Oath at a fully packed Amahoro National Stadium in Remera, Kigali. Over 20 current and former Heads of State and Government from across Africa witnessed the inauguration.
Over 30,000 people followed the ceremony inside the stadium, while thousands others watched it on giant screens that had been mounted the arena. Millions others followed live broadcasts around the country, with many others, including those outside the country, watching the event on live stream.
