Did you know that children can have fun doing household chores? Chores do not have to be boring or done by force. When I was still a child, sometimes I never enjoyed doing housework and I know that many children also feel the same way.

The Banyarwanda  have a proverb "Igiti kigororwa kikiri gito.” This literally means that a tree is straightened when it is still young. When children learn to do simple tasks when they are young they will not find difficulty as they grow older.

Since its holiday time and you spend the whole day at home, at least doing some little housework in the morning after breakfast will not hurt.

Some chores that children can do at home include, washing clothes, socks, sweeping, cleaning and arranging your room, washing cups and plates.

Having fun as you do chores is very simple. All you have to do is share the work with your brothers or sisters. As you do these you can tell stories, jokes and riddles in turns.

This is what makes chores fun and you will not realise that you have finished. Helping your parents at home is very good and this shows that you are a well behaved and disciplined child.

Your parents surely appreciate this and since Christmas is around the corner, you never know how they will reward you.
