Club president Marie Josée Twizeyeyezu confirmed Mukamusonera’s exit on Wednesday, February 7, after days of speculations around her future since she missed on AS Kigali’s touchline during Saturday’s goalless draw with Indahangarwa WFC.
"Yes, she is no longer our coach," Twizeyeyezu told Times Sport.
Reports suggest that the coach's departure is linked to the fact that she had lost the dressing room after falling out with some senior players and her coaching staff.
Mukamusonera joined AS Kigali in 2022, signing from Fatima Women Football Club.
She last coached a game as AS Kigali coach on February 1, when the team beat rivals Rayon Sports WFC 1-0 at Kigali Pele stadium to lift the 2024 Heroes Cup final
Assistant coach Saida Ntagisanimana will take charge of the team until the club management gets a suitable replacement.
