Dear Editor,

A number of talks geared towards combating Gender Based Violence (GBV) have been held. With the numerous ongoing sensitisation exercises, I believe many people can identify GBV and where to report, incase of any abuse.

Like they say, prevention is better than cure, recently the Gasabo district Mayor, Claudine Nyinawagaga, estimated that at least 70 percent of underage children in the district have either faced GBV or risk being victimised.

Reporting such cases is very good but personally I think prevention of violence is better. Police and the health sector are key players in the prevention but as parents we should be more careful with our children.

Most times when children are left unattended to, anyone can take advantage of them.
