DJ Spin has been nominated for this year’s Sauti Awards under the DJ of the Year East Africa category.The 2-day ceremony will begin today and end on August 12 in Atlanta, Georgia. Other nominees in the same category include DJ Sadic from Kenya, DJ Ruff also from Kenya, DJ Twontex of Uganda and DJ Frank from Tanzania.Evans Mwenda, known to his fans as DJ Spin, is the resident DJ and presenter at Royal TV, where he hosts the Power of Praise show."I feel honored to be nominated and humbled to be in a category with such talented and great DJs in the region,” said DJ Spin. "If I win, the award will not only be a credit to me as person but to Rwanda’s music industry, specifically the gospel music scene,” he added.The show will be hosted by Nigerian standup comedian, Sande Bush also known as Dr Ofweneke.Sauti is an award presented annually by Sauti One to honor excellence in the African gospel recording industry.
