RE: "Hunger for power in Rwanda? Give me another!” (The New Times, August 9).

Thank you Mr Pan Butamire for this article. Even those who haven’t read about President-elect Paul Kagame’s story (what he has gone to make Rwandans who we are today), it’s about time they understood the man they keep name-calling every bad thing one can think of. Maybe, the young generation will know the truth and maybe the truth will set them free like the Bible says. I am saying young generation because our generation already knows the truth but it hasn’t set them free.

It’s ridiculous how the critics say that the campaigns were characterised by a "climate of fear” and yet some people even took leave purposely to have time for campaigns instead of having a rest or using their leave to go for holidays or visit family and friends. Ladies paid their money to plait their hair so they are able to brave the sun and dust during the campaigns.

By the way, was the climate of fear felt inside the polling booths where everyone was alone?

Thanks Mr Butamire and well done Donna for this addition. Andrew Mwenda did a wonderful analysis of data on the election and educated all of us about how the so-called fear could not have existed to the extent that it goes so far away to the Diaspora.

Please look it up! I think he finally broke the camels’ backs that were struggling to deliver the destructive baggage onto Rwanda and its people.

My question is: Why do these people opt for suffering under hatred when there is love to enjoy? Why have they chosen to be hired to keep attacking our humble Rwanda when they could be hired to support its confident march to success?

They have really lost credibility—sadly! But there seems to be room for them to recover some of it. I hope they will reach out for a helping hand and I hope this hand is their conscience.
