Renowned Tanzanian singer and songwriter Darassa will headline the maiden ‘Pressing Forward’ show on August 11 at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (Camp Kigali).
According to Sick City entertainment, the organisers, the show is expected to attract a number of youth and will include a panel discussion on the creative industry in Rwanda, talks on drug abuse, youth development, education issues and use of social media.
"Darassa is excited to perform in Kigali and has already confirmed his availability. He will be performing after the panel discussion at 6p.m,” Christian Intwari the organiser revealed.
The singer real name, Shariff Thabee, and CEO of Classic Music Group, is riding high on his hit Muziki, which was released in November, last year. Some of his most popular songs include Sikati Tamaa, Kama Utanipenda, Too Much, and Hasara Roho, which are already popular in Kigali.
Popular local DJs, among them Miller, Toxxyk, Marnaud, Lou, Abenegihiga traditional dance group and Jabba Junior will also perform at the event. Tickets for the Friday show will go for Rwf5,000.
