The national volleyball league playoffs for men, initially supposed to start this weekend, have been pushed to next weekend; Rwanda Volleyball Federation Executive Secretary has confirmed.

Christian Hatumimana said the decision to postpone the league playoffs, was based on a request by all the four participating teams that include; Gisagara, Kirehe, IPRC-South and APR.

"The teams requested to have the playoffs postponed to next weekend saying they needed some more time for preparations. We believe that by next weekend, every team will be ready,” said Hatumimana.

Debutants Gisagara VC will face former league champions APR in the playoffs semi-final, while the other semi will pit Kerehe VC against IPRC-South.

Gisagara leads the table with 34 points, while APR occupy fourth place with 25 points. On other hand, second-placed Kirehe have 28 points, one better than IPRC-South, who are third.

Reigning champions University Kibungo (UNIK) failed to reach the playoffs after finishing on sixth position in the regular season.

The playoffs semi-finals will be played on the best of three series. The semi-final winners will face-off in the final and the champion will represent Rwanda at next year’s CAVB Club Championships.

Meanwhile, in the women category, Rwanda Revenue Authority will come up against APR in the playoffs final second match which will be hosted by APR, after RRA registered 3-2 win in the first game.
