Goalball: Rwamagana, Musanze win Heroes Cup 2024

Rwamagana and Musanze District were crowned winner of the 2024 National Goalball Heroes Cup 2024, which took place over the weekend at Kimironko basketball courts.

The tournament, organized as part of honouring national heroes in Rwanda, brought together four teams in both the men and women's categories.

In the men's category, Gisagara defeated Musanze 3-1 in the semifinals to set a final date with Rwamagana who booked the final ticket after edging Ngororero 5-1.

Rwamagana went on to clinch the trophy after defeating Gisagara 5-4 in the final. Ngororero claimed third place after a narrow 5-4 win over Musanze.

"We are so excited. The competition was tough but we did what he was supposed to with maximum. Being a Heroes Cup made the competition much more value.

We faced tough competition from our opponents because we played a team that has players representing the national team. We worked as a team and followed coach’s instructions and, we got what we deserved," said Rwamagana captain Ange Uwihirwe.

Menawhile, Musanze took home the title in women’s fray after beating Ngororero 4-2 in the final.

Musanze had previously defeated Rwamagana 5-4 in the semifinals, while Ngororero advanced to the final by beating Rubavu 3-2.

Rubavu secured third place by defeating Rwamagana 4-3.
