Azam Rwanda Premier League side Mukura Victory Sports on Friday confirmed Saidi Iragire as their second signing of the offseason—no details were given regarding his transfer fee details.
The 24-year old defender, who joins from Burundian topflight division side, Muzinga FC where he has been the captain, penned a two year deal, according to a statement posted on the club website.
He becomes the club’s second signing following Ugandan forward Rachid Mutebi, who scored 13 goals in total including 11 in the league and two in Peace Cup goals last season for Gicumbi FC, also on a two-year deal.
"I want to help the team to get better next season. It is about working hard and trying to give my best in every match. The coach knows me and I am sure together we will achieve a lot here,” Iragire said.
The player, who is born to a Rwandan mother and Burundian father, is hoping to impress and catch the eye of Amavubi coach Antoine Hey.
Mid this month, the Huye-based club appointed Burundian Francis Christian Haringingo as their new head coach on a two-year contract until the end of 2018/19 season.
Haringingo replaces Belgian Yvan Minnaert, who parted company with the Huye-based club at the end of the season after guiding them to a disappointing 12th position with 32 points, just five points above the relegation zone.
