The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda presidential candidate Frank Habineza has said he will increase pension fees for all former public servants to ensure their welfare as well as boosting informal trade for small traders to prosper. 

Habineza was on Saturday taking his campaign rallies in Rutsiro and Rubavu districts both in western provinces.

He said that the amount of money pensioners does not fit the current market price as it is still counted based on the value money had when they were serving while the market has significantly changed.

"We will increase pension fees to fit the current market, they are currently given peanuts and can hardly survive despite the role they played,” he said.

He said he would fight poverty in all possible ways including supporting small traders and informal traders to find ways they can boost their lives and contribute to the national development. 

"Small and informal traders will be supported by easing ways they operate their business by bringing them together and waiving taxes for them in a certain period as they are settling, " he said stressing that this will help street vendors have places to operate from.

"Fighting poverty we shall start at household level and ensuring even young children rear small animals such as chickens and rabbits so that they can buy school materials themselves and grooming them to be self reliant "he said.

He also said that he will promote people doing small business to ensure that all Rwandans are involved in income generating activities. 

"Those who have not yet benefited from one cow per family will get them and have more cows,” he said 

In Rubavu he talked about inclusive justice where every citizen is offered fair justice and face justice only when found guilty.

He said he would help all Rwandans living abroad as refugees repatriate and contribute to the national development. 

"We want our People to stay abroad only when it is their choice such as doing business there” he said.

Habineza will today campaign in Huye district and to Burera tomorrow before he concludes in Kigali on Tuesday
