Rwanda Schools Sports Federation (RSSF) has announced 21 teams that will represent the country at the 17th regional post-primary games, also known FEASSSA.
This year’s edition is scheduled to take place from August 14 to 27 in Gulu, Northern Uganda.
Eldoret, Kenya, hosted the 16th edition last year, while the 2015 competitions were held in Huye, Rwanda.
All East African Community member states, apart from Tanzania, have already confirmed to participate in the two-week long competition.
The number of teams to represent Rwanda has increased from 17 last year to 21 this year. Rwanda will field three female football teams, three boys’ volleyball teams and three male basketball teams.
The country will also be represented in individual sporting disciplines namely; tennis, table tennis, swimming and athletics. However, Rwanda won’t be represented in hockey and badminton.
According to RSSF, the country will be represented by a total of 356 players and the delegation to Uganda will be a little over 400 people, including officials and coaching staff. This is the biggest delegation Rwanda has ever had in these competitions.
