President Paul Kagame, the flag-bearer of the governing Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF)-Inkotanyi, has said that, should he win the August 4 poll – as widely expected – he’ll continue to prioritise security and inclusive growth.
He was Wednesday addressing his second campaign rally of the day in Rambura Sector, Nyabihu District in Western Province.
"Thank you for coming in big numbers to show support to RPF and its candidate. Our goal is development, security and prosperity for all. We have achieved a lot together but a lot more is still to come,” said the incumbent, whose rallies today have attracted some of the largest crowds so far on the campaign trail.
Earlier in the day, Kagame had addressed perhaps his largest rally in the ongoing campaigns, more than 200,000 supporters, in Musanze District, Northern Province.
"We want everyone to have access to healthcare, food and clean water. That is the foundation for everything. We want to eradicate poverty as well as eliminate malnutrition. Let's work together to achieve this,” he told the Nyabihu rally.
Nyabihu, which covers 531.5 square kilometers and comprises 12 sectors, is home to 294, 740 residents.
From Nyabihu, Kagame was due to head to the western district of Rubavu to address his third and last rally of the day.
Some 6.8 Rwandans go to the polls on August 3-4 to pick the next president.
