The RPF-Inkotanyi presidential candidate, Paul Kagame, told Gatsibo supporters that he will continue to deliver on the progress registered far.

Kagame campaigned in Gatsibo District yesterday, telling voters that what the country has achieved so far gives hope for better strides in the future.

He pointed out that Gatsibo has made many commendable strides but there is a lot more in store for them should he remain in office for the next seven years.

"We want security, we want unity, we want development and we have to show it in our daily activities,” he said.

He added: "There is a lot ahead that we want to achieve. All you need is to be patient because there is a lot in store for us. What we have achieved together is an example of what’s possible and should be the basis of our hope for our future achievements.”

The President said that he will work to ensure that no citizens are left behind in the development journey of the country.

"We will support everyone so we can move faster together,” he said, explaining that the forthcoming presidential poll is a sign for Rwandans’ wish to continue developing in line with who they are.

The RPF’s official manifesto in the on-going election has focused on the party’s plans to strengthen the economy, social welfare, and good governance as well as justice in the next seven years.

Thousands of residents in Gatsibo who gathered at Kabeza public ground in Kiziguro Sector yesterday to welcome the RPF candidate were excited and singing about their commitment to both support the RPF candidate and build their country.

For many residents here, the President has done a lot to promote their region but he needs to ensure that public services and infrastructure provided in the area are more reliable and accessible than they are today.

Emmy Kwitonda, a teacher at Groupe Scolaire Rubona in Kiziguro Sector, said that a better road is needed to connect Kiramuruzi trading centre with Rubona remote area because people who live there often need to access the main road in Kiramuruzi but they face a very dusty or muddy road on their way.

He also said that the district’s residents need more access to water and electricity because some of them are not connected.

"Kagame is the one to provide for these things because whenever he promises something it normally happens,” he said, essentially explaining why he will vote for the RPF candidate.

Another resident of Gatsibo, Marie-Claire Murekeyisoni, also said that access to water is still a problem in the area because sometimes their water taps can be dry for a long time.

"He should address the issue of water here because we need access to water to be reliable. We are connected to water systems but we often find the taps dry and we don’t know why,” she said.

But Murekeyisoni has already made up her mind and on August 4 she will vote for Kagame and she hopes that he can improve public service delivery in her area once he is back in the top office.

"He is the one we will vote for because we have achieved a lot from him even if sometimes we don’t get good services and we don’t know what’s wrong,” she said.

Kagame, who campaigned in Gatsibo on Saturday after holding two other rallies in Nyagatare District and rushing to another one in Kayonza District, will today remain in the Eastern Province where he is expected to campaign in Ngoma, Kirehe, and Rwamagana districts.
