Rwanda U20 handball team has been drawn in Group A for the forthcoming IHF Continental Phase – Africa tournament scheduled for August 1-5 in Dakar, Senegal.
The biennial event will attract seven countries including; hosts Senegal, Ethiopia, Mozambique Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Benin and Rwanda.
Rwanda has been drawn alongside Ivory Coast, Madagascar and Senegal, while Group B comprises Ethiopia, Mozambique and Benin.
The week-long tournament in which Rwanda is participating for the first time, was initially supposed to take place in March then it was moved to May as the Confederation of African Handball struggled to find a host country until Senegal stepped in.
Rwanda qualified last December in Uganda after winning HF Africa Zone 5B title for the first time in seven years.
Last week, the 18-man team under Antoine Ntabanganyimana, who is also the head coach for Police handball club and assistant coach Anaclet Bagirishya of APR handball club, began a residential training camp in Huye district to start preparation for the continental showpiece.
