Police Football Club have extended the contract of their head coach Innocent Seninga by three years through the 2020, the club confirmed on Monday.
CIP Jean de Dieu Mayira, the Police FC Spokesperson, noted that, "Seninga continues to do an outstanding job. He has been tasked to win either the national football league or the Peace Cup.”
Mayira said that they believe that Seninga, who led the club to second place in the league last season, behind champions Rayon Sports, will do better in the three years.
"We are very grateful as administration for the work he did last season. Seninga has done well and this contract extension helps us share our vision for the continued success of our programme,” he explained.
Separately, Seninga said: "I am encouraged by the confidence that the club put in me for the next three years to keep Police FC among the best in the country. The target is to win the league title or Peace Cup and I am willing to work hard to achieve that.”
It is reported that Seninga will receive Rwf2m in monthly salary, which means he will earn at least Rwf24m per year or Rwf72m in three years.
Seninga joined Police FC from Etincelles at the end of last season after saving the Rubavu-based side from relegation.
He was tasked to win at least one trophy last season but failed after finishing second in Azam Rwanda Premier League and Police were eliminated by Rayon Sports in the quarter-finals of Peace Cup.
Police have recently signed several new players including; Fiston Munezero, Mustafa Nsengiyunva (Rayon Sports), Bertrand Iradukunda, David Saibad Nzabanita (Bugesera FC), Issa Zappy Ishimwe (free agent), while they have recalled Olivier Usengimana from Marines where he was on loan last season.
