The Presidential candidate for the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda (DGPR), Frank Habineza, has said he will revise the current land-use policy.

Habineza was speaking during the first day of the presidential campaigns at a rally in Rusizi District.

"We will promote food security first, it is difficult to do anything when you are hungry, we are grateful for the security in place but we need to solve the hunger problem, this is due to leakages in land policies and climate change effects and I have enough expertise in this,” said Habineza, who was accompanied by his wife, Judith Kabarira.

Habineza also said that one of his plans is to boost further the security organs by building houses for the personnel who do not have them.

"We will support security organs. Our security personel play a great role in everything we do but some of them do not have homes, we will build houses for them and establish more health centres where they can access medical services,” he said.

"We will use satellites and drones for security purposes, we want to use ICT to ease tasks of our officers,” he added.

He also said that quality education is one of things he will focus on.

Green Party’s campaign will tomorrow proceed to Nyamasheke District, also in the Western Province.

Besides Habineza, other candidates are the President Paul Kagame of the RPF-Inkotanyi, and Philippe Mpayimana, an independent.
