Fans of Tanzanian Bongo flava star Diamond Platnumz should expect a stellar live performance at the first edition of the Rwanda Fiesta music show on Sunday. The concert is slated for Sunday Junly 2, at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Nyamata.
Diamond is one of the headline acts for the highly billed show. The other is celebrated Jamaican reggae band Morgan Heritage.
"I will be performing live with my band, and this time I will have more than sixteen people just to make sure you guys get what you want," revealed the Bongo flava star at a press conference at the Kigali Marriot Hotel on Friday afternoon.
He jetted into the country on Thursday night.
It will be the third time he is touring in Kigali.
"I wanted to be back here for so long but my schedule couldn't allow me," Diamond revealed at the conference. Also in attendance were local artists that will curtain raise at the show; Yvan Buravan, Charly and Nina, and DJ Pius.
It was a cordial press conference in which Diamond Platnumz exhibited comradeship with his Rwandan counterparts.
Earlier, he had introduced himself by his popular nicknames; Chibu Dangote, and Simba.
"I thank fellow musicxians here with me, because I know if we're united we can make it and we're all from East Africa. These are not local musicians but fellow musicians because we're all musicians and we're all from East Africa.
When I'm here I'm also local because this is my home so you guys should not only expect something from me but from all of us. We want to show the world that East Africa's got talent and that we have nice music."
An emotional Buravan could not hide his excitement at the prospect of sharing a stage with Diamond. He revealed that the first time Diamond performed in Rwanda in 2014, he (Buravan) was still a student and a fan.
Diamond Platnumz will not be the only Tanzanian musician at the Fiesta. Also joining him will be Vanessa Mdee and Chegge.
This will be the first time the Fiesta annual music show comes to Rwanda. Founded sixteen years ago, all previous editions have happened in Tanzania. Organizers also revealed that the Rwanda Fiesta will be an annual music extravaganza.
Tickets for the concert will fall under two categories; Rw f 10,000 for ordinary, and Rw f 25,000 for VIP seating.
