Police FC midfielder Japhet Imurora is on the verge of completing a move to Hong Kong Premier League side Eastern Long Lions FC in an initial six-month deal reported to be around US$150,000 (about Rwf124.2m).

It is reported that the 28-year-old will earn US$3,000 (about Rwf2.5 million) in salary per week on top of accommodation, a vehicle and other bonuses, while Police FC will get US$30,000 (about Rwf24.72m).

After the initial six months and if he impresses, Imorora will be handed a two-year deal.

"Everything is almost finished with the club. I am looking for visa and other related travel documents. I am happy at Police but when an opportunity like this came, I could not turn it down.”

The transfer comes less than two weeks after the midfielder signed a two-year extension contract with Police FC together with goalkeepers Marcel Nzarora and Emmanuel Bwanakweli, midfielders Anderson Neza, Patrick Umwungeri as well as defenders Jean Marie Vianney Muvandimwe and team captain Fabrice Twagizimana.

Police FC Sokesperson CIP Jean de Dieu Mayira said that they are aware of the interest in the player but are waiting for the official communication from the Hong Kong club.

"As of now, we are treating it as a rumor because we have not received any request from that club. If they contact us we will definitely listen to them and the offer they put on the table,” Mayira said.

Eastern Long Lions FC was established in 1932 as Eastern Athletic Association. In 2012 it changed its name to Eastern Salon Football Team for sponsorship reasons. In the 1981/82 season, the club was managed by former England captain and World Cup winner Bobby Moore.
