Dear Editor,

Since 2007, an email message has been circulating around the world, stating that the United Kingdom (UK) government has stopped teaching about Holocaust in schools, because they fear alienating young Muslims in the UK.

This is far from the truth. However, some US citizens are still treating the email as fact. Dr. Stephen Smith OBE, founder of the UK Holocaust Centre and Chair of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, is in the United States this week to set the record straight.

He will argue that "suggesting that the British establishment is frightened of a few Muslim children is abject nonsense and only shows the paranoia that exists around the world about the unknown.”

He will strongly condemn the hate-mongers behind the email and insist that, in fact, the UK are leading the way in Holocaust education.
