Dear Editor,
I learnt with deep sorrow, from your paper, of wednesday, December 3, that over 11 people died in a terrible motor accident along the Kigali- Gatuna highway on Monday night.
This is not the first time that innocent people are losing their lives because of very careless truck drivers. For sure, why should these drivers travel both day and night?
Every one knows very well that we cannot cheat nature. No matter how much governments may wish to receive their imports on time, it is important that the drivers get enough sleep. They dose of because they lack enough sleep.
Transporters’ associations should find means of dealing with this problem. I suggest that at which ever stop the trucks make, another driver takes over such that the former gets to rest as well.
Driving long distances is not an easy task and until we accept reality that the human body must get enough rest, innocent people will continue to die in such unfortunate circumstances.
