It’s been long since gospel singer Israel Mbonyi, one of the most popular Christian music artistes in the country, released a new song.
Now, after an equally long absence from the music stage, Mbonyi is finally back with a new album.
The singer’s new album is called Intashyo nshya. Its track list includes Sinzibagirwa, a song that talks about God’s love, thanks giving and recognition in relation to Rwanda’s healing process after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
In a recent interview with The New Times, the 25-year-old said that the songwriting for his new album had been therapeutic as he sought to understand God’s love and how Rwandans have managed to reconcile the aftermath of the Genocide.
The single is among the songs that will comprise his 8-track album that will be released soon.
"Rwandans have recovered from the tragic past. However, it would be very absurd in case they forget the achievements and steps that have been taken through the help of God,” he added.
Some of Mbonyi’s popular singles include Ku Migezi y'i Babylon and Yankuyeho Urubanza, among others.
