National league side Mukura Victory Sports are hoping to sign Rayon Sports head coach Djuma Masudi in case he parts ways with the league champions at the end of the season.

According to a credible source and close associate of Mukura’s president, Olivier Nizeyimana, the Huye-based club has already prepared a three-year contract for the former Burundi international.

"Mukura are very serious about bringing Masudi to Huye, the club president believes he is the right man that can take Mukura to a level where every fan will be satisfied and happy. That is Olivier’s aim,” the source that preferred not to be named, told Saturday Sport.

In order to lure Masudi to Huye, Nizeyimana has proposed to pay him Rwf2.5m monthly salary on top of a car as well as accommodation.

The development comes amid reports that Masudi is not happy at Rayon Sports—he was recently suspended for a week on allegations of insubordination.

Masudi could replace Belgian Ivan Mineart, also a former Rayon Sports coach, who signed a six-month deal at the start of the league second round in February. Mineart replaced Godfroid Okoko, who is now at Gicumbi FC.

Asked about the link to Mukura, Masudi did not deny or confirm only saying that, "I still have a contract with Rayon Sports and in any case I cannot discuss my future before the season ends.”

"Many things have been said about my future but the truth is that I still have a contract with Rayon Sports and I have to respect that. When the season ends we will see what will happen. My focus right now is to finish the season strongly,” he stated.

Masudi, a former Rayon Sports captain, guided the club to the Peace Cup title last season and he has gone a step further this season by winning the league having lost just once.

Mukura are 11th with 32 points with one match remaining against Kirehe FC, which will be played on June 15.

Peace Cup defending champions Rayon Sports are still in this year’s competition and will face the 2015 winners, Police FC in the quarter-final next week.
