Title hopefuls IPRC-Kigali and Rwanda Energy Group (REG) will lock horns on Friday evening in a must-win game for the either side in the bid to progress to the semi-finals of the ongoing local edition of the Genocide Memorial Basketball Tournament.

The game starts at 10pm at Amahoro Indoor Stadium.

The local league rivals were drawn in Group A along with defending champions Espoir, who have played their two group games and must wait on the result of today’s game to know their fate.

REG defeated Espoir 69-59 in the first game last weekend, while IPRC-Kigali lost to Espoir 80-51. Maxime Mwiseneza’s Espoir lead the table with three points, one ahead of second-placed REG with IPRC-Kigali bottom with one point.

Victory for the league table leaders, REG, would take them four points and advance to the semi-finals as the table leaders along with Espoir.

However, if Albert Buhake’s IPRC-Kigali wins, all three teams will tie on three points and the head to head statistics will be considered to decide which two teams progress to the last four.

Meanwhile in Group A, last year’s finalists Patriots, who have already booked their semi-final ticket, will face second-placed APR in the day’s first game at 6pm before bottom side 30-Plus take on third-placed IPRC-South.

Patriots have four points, leaving APR and IPRC-South to fight for the remaining one spot.

The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday at Club Rafiki courts in Nyamirambo where Group A leaders will take on runners-up in Group B whereas leaders in Group B will face runners-up in Group A.

Meanwhile, in the women category that is being played under a round-robin format, IPRC-South will play against APR on Saturday at 2pm at Rafiki and on Sunday, APR will be up against Ubumwe at 4pm, same venue.

IPRC-South lead with two points while Ubumwe are second place with one points and APR, who are yet to play a single game, in the third place without a point.
