Re: Kenya’s Cece Sagini to headline Kigali Jazz Junction – (The New Times May 15)

That Kenyans are taking over jazz music in Rwanda, only shows there is market demand for all kinds of music genre but unfortunately there are no local talent and/or talent hunting strategies are weak.

The only hope for music in Rwanda is the Nyundo Music School, and I believe where there is a challenge, it’s an opportunity redefined.

Nyundo Music School should take note of hunger for such music and challenge itself to meet this music taste niches.

Another area is classical music with the Injyana band, which draws quite healthy crowds during its performances.

I would also call upon such music organisers to strive to work with local music schools to identify local talent.

I am sure it’s cheaper to use local musical talents and as a person in the private sector, this means better returns for events.
