The Smart Africa Women Declaration is a vital outcome of the inaugural Smart Africa Women’s Summit.
The Government of Rwanda is always alert to the global changes and challenges that keep taking place at such a rapid pace. The Transform Africa Summit has been a great initiative in this aspect.
And this year’s edition of Transform Africa Summit saw the inclusion of the Smart Africa Women’s Summit.
As the First Lady, Mrs. Jeannette Kagame, rightly remarked "We, as citizens of the world, are called to leverage our diverse positions to join governmental and non- governmental efforts for the inclusion of women and girls in the heart of the current ICT revolution”
This came on the eve of "Mothers’ Day” (yesterday) when the world recognizes and appreciates the key role played by mothers all over the globe.
Remarkable Rwanda, has, through a pro-active Ministry of Youth and ICT, taken a lead role when it comes to information and communications technology. The Transform Africa Summits is one such great initiative.
The Minister for Gender and Family Promotion, Esperance Nyirasafari, rightly added that, it is "principles that will drive Africa from a digitally divided continent to an equally connected region.” It will be these sound principles, which the Government of Rwanda has effectively inculcated in the hearts and minds of its people, which will give this great nation the cutting edge and eventually become a glowing example to nations not only in Africa, but the world over.
