Four people, among them three children, died in a motor accident Tuesday morning, when a loaded truck lost control and ran over them, an incident that took place in Nduba Sector of Gasabo District.
Four people, among them three children, died in a motor accident Tuesday morning, when a loaded truck lost control and ran over them, an incident that took place in Nduba Sector of Gasabo District.
News of the accident, in which the driver of the truck also died, was confirmed by Chief Inspector of Police Emmanuel Kabanda, the spokesperson of the traffic and road safety department of Rwanda National Police.
The truck, registration number RAD731J, belongs to local construction company, NPD COTRACO.
While the children died on the spot, the driver was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to injuries.
According to Kabanda, the truck was from Nduba headed to the neighboring Gasanze cell and the cause of the accident was yet to be identified by press time. He said investigations were launched immediately.
Apart from the victims, the truck also destroyed a nearby house but fortunately, nobody was inside that house.
Kabanda urged road users to be careful and respect traffic rules saying that these accidents are preventable.
Police has put in more efforts to curb accidents especially in public transport by installing speed governors in vehicles which limits drivers at 60 kilometre per hour.
