President Paul Kagame yesterday convened the High Command Council of Rwanda Defense Force (RDF) at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Kimihurura.
The President, who is also the Commander in Chief of the armed forces, commended RDF’s role in the protection of the country’s sovereignty and security in general.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Defence, President Kagame specifically commended the current national security status ahead of the 23rd commemoration of genocide against Tutsi that begins today.
He asked the RDF top brass to uphold the ‘Never Again’ motto by ensuring that what happened 23 years ago does not happen again.
The Head of State reminded members of the council to uphold and maintain discipline within the force as one of their strong pillars.
The statement further said that discussions also focused on how to strengthen RDF's core responsibility while at the same time promoting social welfare.
