Rwandans in South Africa urged to shun all forms of tribalism

At least 260 Rwandans in South Africa on Saturday gathered at the Rwandan High Commission in Pretoria in a get-together function to share views on the 'Ndi Umunyarwanda, a national campaign aimed at promoting a national identity.

At least 260 Rwandans in South Africa on Saturday gathered at the Rwandan High Commission in Pretoria in a get-together function to share views on the "Ndi Umunyarwanda, a national campaign aimed at promoting a national identity. 

During the event, High Commissioner Vincent Karega emphasized the necessity to graduate from tribal thinking towards national and pan-African identity, according to a statement. 

He also talked about the need for hard work in order to "reshape our motherland into the Rwanda we want."  

The youth were at the centre of the discussion with different speakers urging them to keep their country close to their heart. 

Professionals who returned to Rwanda and those who invest or send investors and tourists to Rwanda were acknowledged as role models.
