Police Vs APR FC
Kickoff: 18hrs
Venue: Kigali Péle Stadium
APR FC engage Police FC in a crunch Primus National League week 17 at Kigali Pele Stadium on Sunday, January 21 hoping to extend their unbeaten run this season.
The game promises to be a tight one as the pair goes head to head for the league title. APR remain at the summit of the log with 33 points collected from nine wins and six draws out of their past 15 outings. They haven’t lost a single game yet so far this season.
Meanwhile, Police, now 3rd, record the highest number of victories(10) so far this campaign but their latest loss to Sunrise during the opening match of the second round left questions on whether the club is the right candidate for the title this season.
Coach Vincent Mashami will need to react against APR on Sunday and prove those who have began to doubt his side’s title credentials.
The two teams are going to meet for the 17th time since 2015. APR have had the upper hand from the previous 16 outinngs, having won 8 times against Police’s one victory while seven games ended in draws.

Police FC look like a rejuvenated side and have been among the formidable teams in the league this season. They have a squad in-depth from goalkeeper to attack.
Mashami could again rely on the attacking services of new signing Peter Agblevor who has always been a torn in the flesh of APR. The Ghanaian has scored four goals in five games against the army club.
Also, in-form Muhadjiri Hakizimana and Abedi Bigirimana will also be in the fray as they aim to amass all three points.
But Thierry Froger will have to do without star striker Victor Mbaoma who is out through an injury he sustained during the Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar. In the Nigerian absence, Thierry Froger could turn to Gilbert Mugisha who can be deadly on any day as his key man upfront.
Sharaf Eldin Shaiboub, who netted the lone goal when both teams met in the first round on August 28, 2023, is also likely to boss the midfield during Sunday’s rendezvous.
On paper, it looks a dicey game but history favors APR FC and they could inflict another defeat on the title rivals.
