There has been a lot of traffic on social media because French media houses, France24 and AFP used photos of Rwanda peacekeepers in Central African Republic yet the story did not concern them.

The media houses quickly pulled down the photo because of the clamour but the damage had been done, or was it?

It seemed more of a tactic to shift attention to the most important part of the story; French peacekeepers accused of child rape and bestiality would not face justice!

Now, imagine if it was some so-called Third World country, they would be screaming from the top of the roof for the ICC (International Criminal Court). But no, they went scot free and dragged Rwanda into their murk.

Despite trying to cover up the crime, some relentless activists kept the pressure, now, shamelessly, the French prosecution has dropped charges.

If the ICC can try Africans for allegedly recruiting child soldiers, as well as a radical Islamist who destroyed precious artifacts in northern Mali, how can it look itself in the mirror when child rapists are set free?

Where is the true justice that the international court and its backers seem to sing at all given times?

Well, it is no longer surprising when blatant double standards are openly practiced by the powerful and their peers on the Security Council look the other way. But as George Orwell, rightly said ; "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.
