Technical and vocational graduates in the country have been urged to put the skills acquired to good use.

The call was made, Thursday, by Jerome Gasana, the Director General of Workforce Development Authority (WDA), at the first graduation of IPRC-South in Huye District, Southern Province.

At least 468 graduated with advanced diploma and 625 technicians with vocational training certificate.

Women totalled 72 and graduated in applied science skills in engineering and technology fields.

Gasana tasked the graduates to use their skills productively.

"You are the catalysts to poverty eradication in Rwanda. Train others to enable them to be job creators as you. This will enable society to become self-reliant,”

"As a skilled young generation with competitive skills, you should facilitate rapid transformation of the country’s economy by helping to create a strong labour force,” he said.

Barnabe Twabagira, the principal of IPRC-South, called on the graduates to promote locally made products.

"Once the TVET graduates share their skills with the other citizens, it will enable society to be innovative and creative,” Twabagira calls.

Marie Angelle Niyigena, one of graduates in Information, Communication and Technology, encouraged fellow youth to enroll for such courses to help break the unemployment cycle.
