League title hopefuls Rayon Sports will be aiming to stretch their lead on top of the table when they take on a resurgent Bugesera FC today at Bugesera turf.

This is one of the three games in hand for Djuma Masudi’s side which were not played as the team was competing in the CAF Confederation Cup where they have progressed to the playoff round.

The Peace Cup holders, bidding for their first league title since 2013/14 season, have a chance to lift the trophy this season following continuous slump by their bitter rivals APR, currently sitting second with 41 points.

"This is a must win game if we are to win the title this season, we are facing a club that have always been tough and are currently having a good season, but we have to maintain our rhythm and fight for the three points,” Rayon head coach Djuma Masudi said.

After this game, the blues will be left with two more games in hand – against AS Kigali and Sunrise.

Vincent Mashami’s Bugesera are having a good season sitting in the sixth place and will definitely be looking to dent Rayon’s title hopes as well as jump to fifth place of which they are just one point adrift.

"What’s important now is to get three points against Rayon Sports, beating them would be a very good turning point. Everyone knows how important it is to win the game,” Mashami said
