Frenchman Julien Mette arrived in Kigali on Friday, January 19, where he is expected to be unveiled as new Rayon Sports head coach.

Mette, 42, will take over from assistant coach Muhamed Wade who temporarily held the position since Tunisian Yamen Zelfani left the club in October.
"I'm thrilled to be here and contribute to the success of Rayon Sports, a club with a passionate fan base.
I believe we can make a significant impact on the development of football in this country and aim for the cup this year,” Mette told journalists upon arrival at Kigali International Airport.
He also acknowledged the reputation of Rayon Sports which he described as one of the biggest teams in Africa.
Mette began his coaching career in his native France with Jeunesse Villenavaise in 2011 where he spent four years before moving to Congo Brazzaville to coach Tongo FC Jambon in 2016.
He also had two spells with AS Otoho d’Oyo (2018-19 as Sporting Director and 2022-24 as head coach) with whom he won two league titles.
He also coached the Djiboutian national team between 2019 and 2022.
