Rwanda Legacy of Hope is set to start a Sports Rehabilitation Centre for street children at Mount Kigali in Nyarugenge District. The facility, set to open in August, will cost an estimated 700,000 euros (about Rwf651million).According to the Rwanda Legacy for Hope founder Osee Ntavuka, the idea is to help vulnerable children off the streets and offer them a meaningful life. The centre will be offering skills in different sports disciplines as well as training in IT, English and Music.Kids will train in football, basketball, volleyball among others. Ntavuka says the facility will start with 40 children, who will be released after between six months and one year.Rwanda-Legacy of Hope, which was established in April 2011 (also operates in UK), seeks to help street kids to get back to normal life. "We need to create sustainable change for vulnerable children,” said Ntavuka.The centre will be for girls and boys. For those who will be willing to return to school, Rwanda Legacy for Hope will help them, Ntavuka said.editorial@newtimes.co.rw
