It was shortly past 11p.m, when Lillian Mbabazi stepped on stage for her Be Bold For Change live concert at The Ranch Lounge in Kibagabaga, on Saturday night.

The event was organised as a celebration of women and in honuor of the International Women’s Day that fell earlier on March 8.

The Uganda-based Rwandan songstress came with her live music ensemble, the Best Beat Band, which kept revellers entertained with powerful renditions of carefully chosen love ballads.

Dorah Kirezi, the owner of The Ranch Lounge, invited a handful of lady friends over to share drinks, a bite and enjoy the live entertainment courtesy of Mbabazi, who the night’s MC, Ange Umulisa, kept referring to as a "strong woman” and a "legend.”

The ladies did not disappoint, turning up in groups that compromised ladies and men alike.

A live barbecue was set up adjacent to the stage and tables spread out on the lawns. Guests were served skewers of goat meat and drinks from the bar. The outside décor featured theme lights and balloons dotted on the lawns, which created a cozy atmosphere.

As the Best Beat Band warmed the stage for Lillian, the singer took time off to mix and mingle with her adoring fans, moving from table to table.

Then she walked from the crowd onto stage, draped in a flowing black robe with neck embroidery. The crowd went wild with ululations and later sung along as the singer took them through her repertoire of ballads.

But about five songs and 20 minutes later, it was lights down on stage and she was gone. The MC assured the crowd that it was an interlude and Lillian would be back on stage in a short while but the police seemed to have other ideas. The sound had to be turned down low, but with the resident DJ stationed at the lounge bar, the party went on till late.
