Kigali Golf Club vice president Anthony Olwit stole the show after winning the 2017 President’s Cup tournament on Saturday at the Kigali golf course in Nyarutarama.

The one-day event is normally organized to honor the presidency and tenure of former club presidents when a new president has been elected.

This year’s tournament was staged in recognition of Richard Gakuba, who was the club president from 2012 to 2016 before he was replaced by Luis Kamanzi.

The Computech-sponsored Stroke Play tournament attracted a total of 81 golfers including guests from Uganda, Burundi and Zambia.

Former Kigali Golf Club captain, Olwit carded the best score of 71 Net in the men handicap 0-9 category, beating Maharshi Rawal and Barnabas Kariuki, who each scored 74 Net.

"I am very excited to win this competition, I was not really expecting this before the start, I’m happy to have won because I love this game,” said Olwit.
