Second division league sides Intare and Hope FC are through to the round of 32 of the 2017 Peace Cup after winning their qualification round matches on Tuesday afternoon.

Intare FC thrashed Giticyinyoni 4-1 in the day’s first match before Hope FC saw off Esperance 2-1; both matched were played at Stade Muhanga. The remaining nine preliminary round fixtures will be played on Wednesday (today).

Twenty-two (22) clubs are gunning for the remaining 16 places to join the top 16 teams from last year’s competition in the 1/16 round which is scheduled for April 19. The qualification round will produce 11 winners and five best losers to make a total of 16 clubs.

Rayon Sports are title holders after they edged archrivals APR FC 1-0 in last year’s final, which gave the Blues the right to represent Rwanda at this year’s CAF Confederation Cup.

The Rwandan side is already through the first qualification of Africa’s second best club after eliminating South Sudan’s Al Wau Salaam 6-0 on aggregate.

They will face Onze Créateurs of Mali, with the first leg scheduled for on March 11 at Stade Modibo Keita in Bamako before hosting the second leg in the Kigali on March 18.
