APR Handball Club coach Anaclet Bagirishya has told his players that every match they play between now and end of the season is a ‘must-win’ if they are to end the 10-year league title drought.

Bagirishya made the remarks after the Rwanda Cup and Heroes’ Day champions defeated Groupe Scolaire Saint Aloys de Rwamagana 38-21 on Sunday to close the gap on table leaders and title holders Police, to five points, albeit with a game in hand.

Jean Paul Muhawenayo scored a game-high 14 goals to guide his side to victory, which propelled them from third to second place with 13 points having won four of their five matches played so far this season—the loss came against Police 40-38 three weeks ago.

"We lost the first-round game against Police but we’re getting into some good form and getting good results as well, which is very important at this stage of the season,” said Bagirishya.

Unbeaten Police, who did not play this weekend, lead the table with 18 points from six games, while College Inyemeramihigo, led by Etienne Nizeyumukiza with 8 goals, beat Ecole Scolaire Kigoma 38-37.
