Rwandans and friends of Rwanda living in Maine State in the United States of America have expressed their dissatisfaction with the bail given to the Chief of State Protocol, Rose Kabuye, demanding that her full freedom be restored.

The demand was made last week at Congress Street in Portland city where scores of demonstrators braved the cold to call upon countries that believe in justice to fight for Kabuye’s cause.

The protesters were addressing their concerns to two congressmen and two senators representing Maine State in the USA’s Congress and Senate, respectively.

Visibly unhappy, the demonstrators demanded for Rwanda’s freedom, saying that France should stop its ill intentions against her.

They also insisted that Kabuye be sent back home to continue her official duties.

Some questioned the powers Germany and France have to arrest Kabuye who stopped the Genocide yet they harbour those who committed Genocide against Tutsis in 1994.

The protesters also said that they are not happy with the temporary release of Kabuye by those who know very well that they are torturing an innocent person.

"We are not happy with the temporary release. It is a shame to them because we expected them to observe universal rules, which they did not by knowingly undermining our country’s sovereignty.”

Daniella Runyambo, a Rwandan student in Portland High School, said.

Runyambo added that it is very bad and hurting to see a person considered to be a hero put behind bars over false accusations. She asserted that they could not sit back and watch and that that’s why they asked for permission at school to join others in protesting against the act.

Jean Paul Ruhosha, another demonstrator, said that they would not stop demanding for Kabuye’s total release because she is a lady who helped the country to stop the killings in the 1994 Genocide rather than what they accuse her of.

Ruhosha pointed out that the temporary release is not enough and that in the first place they should explain the reason why she was arrested.

"Temporary release is meaningless to us. They have to set her free and compensate her for damages. They arrested her without even considering her immunity forgetting that playing with her means playing around with the entire nation. We love her and she is our hero,” he underscored.

Another demonstrator, Romulus Rushimisha, said that injustices against Rwanda by France should stop.

He added that if France wants to help Rwanda, it should arrest those who committed the Genocide so that they can face justice instead of continuing to show its poor motives against Rwanda.
